This catalogue contains the reproductions of the 94 award-winning calligraphic works of the Seventh International Calligraphy Competition which was organised by IRCICA and finalized in April 2007. Following IRCICA’s tradition of dedicating each triennial competition to a master of classical calligraphy, the seventh competition was named after the Iraqi calligrapher Hashim Mohammad Al-Baghdadi (1335-1393 h/1917-1973 AD). 916 calligraphers from 38 countries participated in this competition, with 1616 entries in fourteen different styles of writing, namely jaly thuluth, thuluth, naskh, jaly taliq, nastaliq, jaly diwani, diwani, kufi, muhaqqaq, reyhani, ijaza, riqa, maghribi and hurda taliq. 21 awards and 74 mentions were distributed for the 94 calligraphies presented in the catalogue. In addition, 42 participants were given incentive prizes by decision of the Jury. Thus in total, 119 calligraphers from 25 countries received prizes. In addition to the reproductions of the calligraphies, the catalogue also includes the names and addresses of the winners and a list of those who received incentive prizes which are published in order to encourage communications among the calligraphers.
