Al-Qods dans les registres Muhimme (1810-1829), Volume VIII

IRCICA’s 9-volume work titled “Al-Quds in Muhimme Registers” was published during the period from 2016-2018 in the Arabic, English and Turkish languages. The Muhimme registers are original sources of historical information about state decrees on important matters. The publication contains documents on Al-Quds selected from these registers, dating from 1545 to 1905 and relating, generally, to administrative matters, appointments and dismissals, security issues, waqf governance, all kinds of problems concerning sacred places, constructions and restorations, daily life, among others. The methodology of presentation in the book is as follows: the numbers of the registers, pages and decrees are followed by the outlines of the decrees in Turkish, Arabic and English; then comes the transcription of the text of the decree in Turkish. The originals of the decrees are printed at the end of each volume, where indices of persons, places, institutions and terms are also added.
